Our programs
01 · Mentorship
By connecting elementary and middle school students with caring adults and high-school leaders, we give them a chance to excel academically and socially — pairing students with professionals who provide mentorship for life and career.
02 · Character
Character is a key to a person's success. Through the Character Counts and Second Step curricula, students learn to be resilient, honest, and responsible citizens.
03 · Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship
Very little school time is spent on financial literacy — a stepping stone to life-changing wealth. And by teaching the basics of entrepreneurship, we produce the problem-solvers and leaders our world needs.
04 · Wind & Wave Scholarships
To support the youth, our organization awards two scholarships per class. Scholarships are awarded to those who achieve the highest grades and make the greatest progress.
Why it matters
Scores are declining for young students
The NAEP long-term trend assessment found average scores for 13-year-olds declined 4 points in reading and 9 points in mathematics since 2020. Compared to a decade ago, scores fell 7 points in reading and 14 points in mathematics.
Rising poverty in the Valley
Fresno's concentrated poverty rate is the highest in California. A third of all children live in poverty. Of Fresno County's 999,101 residents, 20.6% experience poverty — more than 1.5× the state rate.
